In a unanimous decision the American Eagle was one of the first animals to be chosen. A lot of that(if not all of it) had to do with its connection to our beloved football team.
After the mural was done, I went back to the STUDiO and started to remix the artwork with the native flower, Brown-Eyed Susans, for a truly local symbol of art, camaraderie and our local environment.
In a first for me, I’m testing the idea of how a mural can raise money for the non-profit attached to it or even the ability to create more murals with community involvement. In this case it’s kind of both.
A portion of proceed’s from the Eagle products and the entire EKO collection will go towards Sarah’s non-profit, Skype a Scientist. An organization that connects scientists with classrooms(and more) across the globe.
Which fits right in with the majority of the themes in my work brining attention and new ways to think about our local environment and nature as a whole.
